The government occasionally contracts domestic producers to produce bulletproof jackets and helmets for the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies. They are acquired following careful testing and evaluation in accordance with established requirements and authorization.
The bulletproof helmets that the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces purchased adhere to the standards and threat/protection levels set by the National Institute of Justice of the USA (NIJ), which has been authorised by the relevant authorities. Upgrades, purchases, and distribution of upgraded Bullet Proof Jackets and Helmets are ongoing processes for which appropriate actions are routinely conducted.
