A 120-person team from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force left today for Kazakhstan to participate in the 7th Joint Military Exercise, or “Exercise KAZIND-2023.” The exercise is scheduled to take place at Otar, Kazakhstan between October 30, 2023, and November 11, 2023.
Ninety members of the Indian Army contingent are commanded by a battalion from the DOGRA Regiment. Those from Kazakh Ground Forces’ Regional Command South mostly make up the Kazakhstan contingent. Along with the Army contingents, 30 Air Force soldiers from both sides will take part in the present exercise.
“Exercise PRABAL DOSTYK” was the name given to the joint exercise between Kazakhstan and India in 2016. Following its second iteration, the exercise was elevated to a corporate-level activity and given the new name “Exercise KAZIND.” This year’s exercise has been enhanced even more by adding the Air Force component, making it a Bi-service exercise.
In accordance with a UN mandate, both parties will rehearse conducting counterterrorism operations in a non-traditional setting throughout this exercise. The contingents will practice a range of tactical exercises together, such as raids, small-team insertion and extraction operations, and search and destroy missions. The exercise’s scope encompasses the execution of Counter Unmanned Aerial System Operations.
Exercise KAZIND-2023 will give both sides the chance to learn about each other’s strategies, tactics, and battle drills—a necessary skill while conducting operations under UN auspices. The combined training will provide participants with the coordination, resiliency, and abilities needed to carry out joint military operations in urban and semi-urban settings.
There will be opportunities for both parties to conduct drills on a variety of combat abilities and gain mutual knowledge. The exercise will give the contingents a chance to discuss and share best practices and points of view. The two armies’ relationship will be further strengthened by “Exercise KAZIND-2023.”
