On August 24, at INS Chilka, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, will examine the fourth batch of Agniveers’ Passing Out Parade (POP). In the ceremony that takes place after dusk, 1390 Agniveers—216 of them are women—will retrieve the ‘Antim Pag’ from the sacred doors of INS Chilka. This time, 330 Coast Guard Naviks will also succumb to their injuries in addition to Naval Agniveers. The conducting officer of the parade will be Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Naval Command. Proud relatives of the Agniveers who have passed away, notable veterans, and prominent sports figures will be present to witness this historic occasion.
The POP marks the beginning of the Agniveers’ new journey in the Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive, and Future Ready Indian Navy, in addition to their successful completion of 16 weeks of ab-initio naval training. Academic instruction, instruction in various parts of service, and outdoor instruction centred around the essential principles of duty, honour, and courage were all incorporated in the training at Chilka. CNS would give honours to worthy Agniveers in a number of categories throughout the POP.
During the ceremony, CNS will distribute awards to several divisions, attend the Agniveers valedictory function, and launch new infrastructure buildings and facilities.
On August 24, at 1710 hours, the POP will be broadcast live on the Indian Navy’s YouTube site, Facebook page, and local Doordarshan network.
