DEFENCE EQUIPMENT CAPABILITY

The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff works with all relevant parties to develop an Integrated Capability Development Plan that addresses the Armed Forces’ present and future security requirements. The two-year roll-over Annual Acquisition strategy includes an annual assessment of this strategy. Annual Acquisition Plan reviews are conducted at the levels of Service Headquarters and Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.

All three Services have requisite mechanisms to review the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) manuals and procedures. These include Base Repair Depots (BRDs) in the Indian Air Force (IAF) for aircraft and systems, Central Servicing Development Organisation (CSDO), and Indian Naval Ship Maintenance Authority (INSMA) for all Navy ships and submarines, among others. When it comes to indigenous equipment, users also conduct MRO assessments in cooperation with DPSUs and Indian industry. Repair and maintenance manuals and procedures are updated on a regular basis.
