FIRST TRAINING SQUADRON VISIT TO PHUKET, THAILAND

INS Tir, INS Sujata, INS Sudarshini, and ICGS Sarathi, ships of the First Training Squadron (1TS), visited Phuket, Thailand from September 25–28 as part of a long-distance training mission. The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) gave the ships a hearty welcome in the middle of music performed by the RTN band. Rear Admiral Puchong Rodnikron, Chief of Staff, Third Naval Area Command, was visited by Senior Officer, 1TS, Capt. Sarvpreet Singh and Commanding Officers of ships.

For the Chief of Staff, Third Naval Area Command, RTN officers, and people from the Indian Diaspora, INS Tir organized a reception. Children from various schools were given guided tours of the ships, which were open to guests. The trainees of 1TS visited Naval Academy at Phang Nga Naval Base.

Personnel from both Navies participated in cross-training visits, professional interactions, sporting events, and combined yoga sessions during the stay. Cross-boarding of trainees, maneuvers, and approaches for resupplies at sea were done as part of the Maritime Training Partnership Ex with Royal Thai Naval Ship Klaeng. The two Navies’ close friendship is solidified and maritime ties are strengthened during the visit.
