The Indian Air Force (IAF) is equipping its Su-30 fighter aircraft fleet with a new missile that has a range of more than 250 kilometres and can destroy ground-based targets.
According to top government officials who spoke to a major media outlet, the new missile, which was added as part of an emergency import contract, can attack targets more than 250 kilometres away. This will boost the aircraft’ potential.
As it did during the Balakot operations in 2019, the new missile would enable the Indian Air Force to attack adversary military bases and terrorist infrastructure from deep within its own territory.
The sources claim that given the current state of the world, integrating long-range missiles from native or neutral states like Europe or America would be challenging.
The Su-30s are also being upgraded by the IAF, a project that will start with 85 aircraft and cost more than Rs 30,000. About 260 of these heavy air superiority fighter aeroplanes are now operating with the IAF’s most advanced Rafale fighter aircraft.
