Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Friday that India has led the world in the fight against terrorism, and that countries that use terrorism as a tool know that India can respond appropriately.
“India has led the world on the issue of terrorism; countries that consider terrorism as a tool know well that India does not tease any country unnecessarily, and it knows how to respond appropriately to those who tease India,” said Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
His remarks came while addressing the Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s Convocation ceremony in Udupi, Karnataka.
He also compared the start-up culture prior to 2014, saying, “Previously, there was no start-up ecosystem in the country, but that has changed in the last 7-8 years. Prior to 2014, there were only a few hundred start-ups, but the number has now surpassed 70,000.”
The Defence Minister also stated that the world now pays attention to India in major forums.
I am proud to say that India’s words are carefully considered even in the world’s major forums today. “India’s standing in the world has grown, and big countries pay attention to what India says on any issue,” he added.
He also recalled that India used to be the world leader in scientific technology.
“India gave the world the concept of zero.” India also provided the concept of quadratic equation,” he added.
The Defence Minister also identified ‘illiteracy’ as a major cause of poverty and unemployment.
