Today a team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) traveled for Cairo (West) Air Base, Egypt, where the biennial trilateral ExerciseBRIGHT STAR-23 will take place from August 27 to September 16, 2023.
The IAF is taking part in Ex BRIGHT STAR-23 for the first time, together with contingents from the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Qatar. Five MiG-29, two IL-78, two C-130, and two C-17 aircraft will make up the contribution from the Indian Air Force. The exercise will feature participants from the IAF’s Garud Special Forces as well as the Numbers 28, 77, 78, and 81 Squadrons.
The IAF transport aircraft will also provide airlift to approximately 150 personnel from the Indian Army.
The exercise’s goal is to provide collaborative operation planning and execution practice. Such encounters offer a way to advance strategic connections between participating nations in addition to fostering cross-border bonds. Thus, IAF contingents traveling abroad for flying exercises are no less than Diplomats in Flight Suits.
In the 1960s, India and Egypt collaborated closely to build aircraft and aero engines, and Indian colleagues trained Egyptian pilots as a result of their remarkable connection and close cooperation. With the recent trips to Egypt by the leaders of the two civilizations’ air forces as well as the Indian Defence Minister and Prime Minister, the ties between the two nations were further solidified. By conducting frequent exercises between their armed forces, the two nations have improved their joint training.
