How Tejas can replace ageing Mig 21

Tejas is far better than MiG-21 in every aspect. In 21st century you can’t stick with cold war era technologies. Perhaps you should ask where LCA stands in competition with other contemporary medium role fighter aircraft around the world. Technically, there is no competitor for Tejas. Not because it has some state of the art technologies or it’s the stealthiest or it is the most lethal plane ever made but, it has altogether a very different role and specifications which makes it unique in every sense. It’s a 3rd line of air defense after Sukhoi 30 MKI and MiG 29. It has very small range and combat radius and mainly designed for attacks in peripheral areas in Pakistan and China. It can also be used in ground attacks due to many modifications done eventually in its design, avionics, and engine. Some planes which it’s been compared with the most are; F 16 ( USA), JF 17 (China, Pakistan), Saab JAS 39 Gripen. JF 17 is a piece of crap with no specialty. F 16 is a gem and an inspiration for engineers and scientists. Tejas has a few pros and a few cons too. It is made compatible to both Russian as well as western missiles and armaments. It has high instability which gives it an edge in maneuvering. It has high thrust to weight ratio due to its near 70% composite material body. But the engine is inferior and the radars are not as powerful as other contemporary fighters have. In the end, Tejas was just a start for Indian agencies to try their hands in developing a fighter jet from scratch and they have gained significant expertise which will be useful in future projects (AMCA, FGFA, AURA, Kaveri Engine) and Tejas also didn’t have any crash records after these years of devlopment and usage. So by this means it’s a reliable fighter to rely for.
