3,500 domestic drones are featured in India’s largest drone display, mesmerising onlookers

First, a 3-D anamorphic projector will be set up.

On January 29, 2023, at the iconic Vijay Chowk in the centre of New Delhi, President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Smt. Droupadi Murmu will preside over the ceremonial known as “Beating the Retreat,” which will feature Indian music based on Indian Classical Ragas.

The music bands of the Army, Navy, Air Force, State Police, and Central Armed Police Force will perform up to 29 entrancing and upbeat Indian songs (CAPF).

The occasion will feature the solemn presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh. It will also feature the largest drone show ever held in the nation, using 3,500 domestic drones. The beautiful drone show will illuminate the night sky over the Raisina Hills by synchronising a wide variety of national personalities and events. It will show off the startup ecosystem’s success, the youth of the nation’s technological prowess, and set the way for upcoming ground-breaking developments. M/s Botlabs Dynamics will manage the event.

During the Beating Retreat Ceremony in 2023, a 3-D anamorphic projection on the North and South Block’s façade will be organised for the first time.

The massed band’s “Agniveer” melody will open the ceremony, and then the pipes and drums band will perform fascinating pieces including “Almora,” “Kedar Nath,” “Sangam Dur,” “Queen of Satpura,” “Bhagirathi,” and “Konkan Sundari.”

The band of the Indian Air Force will perform “Aprajey Arjun,” “Charkha,” “Vayu Shakti,” and “Swadeshi,” while the band of the Indian Navy will perform the mesmerising tunes “Ekla Cholo Re,” “Hum Taiyyar Hai,” and “Jai Bharati.”

Songs like “Shankhnaad,” “Sher-e-Jawan,” “Bhupal,” “Agranee Bharat,” “Young India,” “Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja,” “Drummers Call,” and “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon” will be played by the Indian Army band.

The event will come to a close with the ever-popular tune of ‘Sare Jahan se Acha’.

Flight Lieutenant Leimapokpam Rupachandra Singh will serve as the ceremony’s main conductor.

Sub Maj Diggar Singh will be in charge of the Army Band, while M Anthoni Raj and Warrant Officer Ashok Kumar will be in charge of the Naval and Air Force bands.

Asst. Sub Inspector Prem Singh will be in charge of conducting the State Police and CAPF bands.

Under the direction of Naib Subedar Santosh Kumar Pandey, the buglers will perform, while Subedar Major Baswaraj Vagge will direct the pipes and drums band.

The four-day Republic Day celebrations come to an end on January 29 with the “Beating the Retreat” spectacle at the Vijay Chowk.

When the Colors and Standards are paraded, it has become a symbol of national pride.

The unique ceremonial of display by the massed bands was created locally by Major Roberts of the Indian Army in the early 1950s, which is when the ceremony first began.

When the Retreat horn sounded at dusk, the soldiers sheathed their weapons, stopped fighting, left the battlefield, and went back to their camps, carrying on a centuries-old military practise.

Flags are lowered and colours and standards are cased.

The ritual evokes memories of bygone eras.
