The Indian naval cruiser INS Delhi, which landed at the port city of Trincomalee in the country’s northeast on Sunday with 390 crew members on board for a two-day official visit, was warmly received by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The Indian Navy’s guided-missile destroyer INS Delhi, which measures 163.2 metres in length, is the head of its class.
It happens a few days before S. Jaishankar, the island nation’s minister of external affairs, visits there from January 19 to 20.
The crew of the ship will take part in a variety of programmes during its two-day stay in Sri Lanka, all of which are intended to foster collaboration and goodwill between the navies of the two nations.
Through improved cooperation, such naval drills help both nations overcome marine issues.
