Indian Navy (IN) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, inked a Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi for technological cooperation and joint research and development. The MoU aims to enhance academic collaboration in the wide range of engineering fields, advance scientific knowledge of technologies connected to the defense industry, and carry out innovative research.
IN and IISc share common interest in academic exchange of scientific research activities in the field of Engineering related to defence technologies. The MoU would serve to establish a more comprehensive framework and allow both parties to improve capacity building, problem-solving at the field level, the number of equipment vendors, and efficient training through faculty/guest lecture exchange. Transcritical carbon dioxide (CO2) based AC plants using natural refrigerants have been developed by IN and IISc in cooperation. The innovation was created domestically and represents a key step toward replacing synthetic halon refrigerants. The formal foundation for future cooperation to create such technological solutions is provided by this MoU.
The MoU was signed by Rear Admiral K Srinivas, Asst Chief of Materiel (Dockyard & Refit) on behalf of the Navy and Captain Shridhar Warrier (Retd), Registrar IISc and Prof B Gurumoorthy, Director FSID Bengaluru.
