From August 8 to August 11, 2023, the Indian Navy’s frontline platforms, INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand, will be in port in Dubai under the command of RAdm Vineet McCarty, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet. Captain Ashok Rao and Captain Pramod G Thomas are in charge of the INS Trikand and INS Visakhapatnam, respectively.
The ships’ professional exchanges with the UAE Naval Force on many aspects of maritime operations and the sharing of best practices are intended to improve collaboration and fortify ties between the two navies. In order to improve cooperation and synergy between the two fleets, a bilateral exercise called “Zayed Talwar” is also planned with the UAE navy. The current visit will promote mutual understanding of the security problems in the region and strengthen the marine collaboration between the two navies.
