In order to conduct collaborative dive training between the IN and SLN, the Indian Navy’s INS Nireekshak, a diving support and submarine rescue vessel, landed to the port of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, on September 14. The dive teams of both Navies would take part in exercises for more than a week in order to improve interoperability, teamwork, and the sharing of best practices.
Officials from HCI, Colombo, and the SLN band welcomed the ship with open arms as they played the tune of “Sare Jahan Se Achha.” Rear Admiral PS De Silva, Commander of the Eastern Naval Area, was contacted by the commanding officer of INS Nireekshak, and a number of topics of mutual interest were discussed. During the ship’s stay, professional encounters, social gatherings, sporting events, and combined yoga sessions are also scheduled to strengthen the connections of friendship and solidarity between both Navies.
