A terrorist connected to Lashkar-e-Taiba who was engaged in the twin blasts that happened in Narwal on January 21 has been found by Jammu Police carrying a perfume improvised explosive device (IED), a first.
Arif, a terrorist who had been in touch with his Pakistani handlers for three years, was apprehended by the police.
The two bombs that happened in Narwal last month, separated by 20 minutes, left up to nine people hurt.
The terrorists wanted to murder as many people as they could, according to the authorities.
If the police had not complied with the SOPs, the second IED might have done more harm, as the terrorists had intended.
“On January 20, two explosives were planted. On January 21, there were two explosions separated by 20 minutes in an effort to kill as many people as possible. Following the initial IED explosion, nine persons were hurt. The police’s adherence to SOPs allowed for the planned damage to be avoided. Because the first IED was little but the second IED was much larger than the first, the damage might have been worse in the absence of that. While updating the media about the incident, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh claimed that police had detained one terrorist named Arif who had been in communication with Pakistani handlers for three years.
The DGP said that this is the first IED of its kind that the police have found, and he said that if someone tried to press or open it, it would explode.
We have never before discovered a perfume IED. We have never before discovered a perfume IED. If anyone tries to press or open the IED, it will explode. That IED will be handled by our special team, he said.
DGP Singh claimed that Pakistan was spreading terrorism from its territory and intended to incite “communal division” among residents of the Union Territory.
“Pakistan is notorious for exporting terrorism from its territory and for the murder of hundreds of innocent people worldwide. Jammu and Kashmir has been a long-term goal.
He claimed that Pakistan wanted to separate Jammu and Kashmir’s residents along racial lines.
In addition to the Narwal double blasts, the DGP claimed that Arif was also engaged in the Shastri Nagar and Katra Bus explosions.
Speaking to ANI, DGP Singh stated, “Towards the end of December, the accused received the supply of three IEDs. In the Narwal region, he used two IEDs. He is acting under the direction of Qasim, a terrorist with the Lashkar-e-Taiba who operates out of Pakistan. Recent acts of terror in the region are his fault.
Senior Army authorities and Security Impact Analysis (SIA) teams also arrived at the scene of the incident quickly after the explosions on January 21.A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also reached Jammu on January 22 to hold an investigation at the site of two explosions in the industrial area Narwal.
