On October 30, 23 in Titagarh, Kolkata (WB), onto the Hooghly River, was the launch of “DSC A 21,” the second ship of the 05 x Diving Support Craft (DSC) project, being built by M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), Kolkata, for the Indian Navy. Chief of Personnel VAdm K Swaminathan presided over the Launch Ceremony. Following the naval nautical custom, the ship was launched by Mrs. Laila Swaminathan.
These vessels are outfitted with cutting edge diving gear and are intended to conduct dive operations in harbors and coastal waterways. These are catamaran-hull ships that are 30 meters long and have a displacement of about 300 tons. On February 12, 21st, the MoD and M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), Kolkata, inked a contract for the construction of five Diving Support Crafts (DSC).
These ships are designed and constructed in accordance with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) naval rules and regulations. The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), located in Visakhapatnam, conducted the hydrodynamic study and model testing of the ships throughout the design phase. These vessels proudly represent the Government of India (GoI)/Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) “Made in India” campaign.
