On February 24 at Guttenedevi, the launch location of M/s SECON, Visakhapatnam, RAdm Sandeep Mehta, ACWP&A, launched the Missile Cummunition Ammunition (MCA) Barge, Yard 75 (LSAM 7) missile. This Barge is a proud representative of the Ministry of Defence’s “Made in India” project, having all major and auxiliary equipment/systems made by domestic producers.
In accordance with the government of India’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” programmes, a contract for the construction of eight (8) MCA Barges was reached with M/s SECON, an MSME, in Visakhapatnam. A 30-year service life is built into the construction of this barge. By easing the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of items and munitions to IN Ships both beside jetties and at outer harbours, the availability of MCA Barges will spur IN’s operational responsibilities.
