On March 1st 2023, Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar took over as Vice Chief of the Army Staff. The general officer replaced Lieutenant General BS Raju, who today assumed command of the Sapta Shakti Command, situated in Jaipur.
Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar held the position of Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) at Army Headquarters prior to being appointed Vice Chief of the Army Staff. In his most recent positions, he has demonstrated expertise in intelligence, operations, force organization, operational logistics, and tech infusion.
The General Officer, a graduate of the Sainik School Bijapur and the National Defense Academy, was commissioned into the 1 ASSAM REGIMENT in June 1985. He has held the commands of the highly active White Knight Corps in Northern Command, an Infantry Brigade, an Infantry Division, and the 59 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (ASSAM) on the Line of Control.
The General Officer has served in a number of staff and teaching positions, including as an instructor at Infantry School, Mhow, Senior Operations Officer in the United Nations Sector in Cambodia, Colonel (Policy) in the Military Secretary Branch, Indian Army Training Team at Lesotho, Brigadier General Staff (Operations) of a Corps in the Eastern Theatre, Additional Director General Military Intelligence, and Director General Military Intelligence at Army HQ.
The officer has taken courses at the National Defence College in New Delhi, the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, and the Higher Command Course in Mhow. Additionally, he has taken classes in Sri Lanka on “Cooperative Security in South Asia” and in Egypt on “United Nations Senior Mission Leaders Course.” Several reputable periodicals have published his military writings.
