Both sides agree to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation
India shares Japan’s vision for a free, open, secure & rules-based Indo-Pacific, says Shri Rajnath Singh
On April 6, 2023, the Japanese Vice Minister of Defense for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Oka Masami, met with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
Mr. Oka briefed the Raksha Mantri about the discussions that took place during the 7th Defence Policy Dialogue, which he and the defence secretary, Shri Giridhar Aramane, co-chaired on April 5, 2023, in New Delhi.
The dignitary in attendance reaffirmed Japan’s desire to further develop bilateral defence cooperation, including joint development of defence technology and equipment.
Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted that both nations must keep broadening the scope of their bilateral cooperation while expressing that India supports Japan’s vision for a free, open, secure, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
Mr. Suzuki Hiroshi, the Japanese ambassador to India, was also with Mr. Oka when he expressed gratitude to the Raksha Mantri for his strong and constructive leadership in advancing the two countries’ defence cooperation.
Giridhar Aramane, the secretary of defence, was also present.
