On this occasion, a Rolling Trophy and a sum of Rs 1.50 lakhs were given to the institution.
The “Capt MN Mulla, MVC, Memorial Excellent Student Award” will be given to two NCS Delhi students (a boy and a female) who have demonstrated commitment, courage, and clarity of vision.
INS Khukri was sunk by torpedoes launched by an enemy submarine on the night of December 9, 1971, during the Indo-Pak War.
Having made the decision to abandon ship, Captain Mulla oversaw the plans for the rescue of his ship’s crew in an extremely cool, collected, and systematic manner, disregarding his own personal safety.
Captain Mulla ordered as many of his troops as he could to abandon the ship before returning to the bridge to determine what other rescue efforts could be carried out.
Captain Mulla was last observed sinking with his ship in the process.
His behaviour, deeds, and example have all been in line with the Service’s greatest ideals.
Captain Mahendra Nath Mulla received the Maha Vir Chakra for his outstanding bravery and dedication.
