New airbase near Indo-Pak border : PM Modi

Gandhinagar: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for a new airfield that will be built in northern Gujarat close to the border with Pakistan and declared that it will become a vital hub for the nation’s defence. Following the opening of the Gujarati capital Gandhinagar’s 2022 Defense Expo, Modi said that the military will publish a list of 101 additional items that will not be allowed for import.
With this 411, he claimed, only locally produced defense-related things could be purchased. The Indian defence sector will receive a significant boost as a result, he claimed.

The PM said that since only Indian enterprises are taking part, this DefExpo is unprecedented. He said that the new air station in Banaskantha, North Gujarat, near Deesa, will “emerge as an effective centre for the security of the country. He said that Indian defence exports had surged eightfold over the past several years.  The country has come a long way, as “earlier we used to release pigeons and now we release cheetahs”, he added.
