On a 6 cycling expedition, the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) team

A 4 person team from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) in Dirang, Indonesia, is preparing to begin a 6-nation cycling expedition from Hanoi, Vietnam tomorrow, January 18, 2023. The expedition will travel through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia before finishing on March 8 at Esplanade Park (INA War Memorial) in Singapore. 

The expedition crew left New Delhi on January 16, 2023, and is now acclimatising in Hanoi. 

The expedition was approved by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh during the Executive Council of the Institute meeting last year (18/4/2022), which was presided over by him.

The expedition was flagged off from New Delhi by Additional Secretary MoD on January 16 in the presence of NIMAS Secretary. The four-member team is led by Col R.S. Jamwal.

This is the first cycling adventure of its sort to travel through 6 South East Asian nations. At the INA Memorial in Singapore, people will pay respects to all the soldiers who gave their lives to free their nation from the British colonial Regime.

It is noteworthy that the NIMAS team recently established a record in the India Book of Records by undertaking the first expedition of its sort to bike across all seven North Eastern states. The North East region’s seven states’ highest point was also reached by it. The expedition visited and engaged with youth associations in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura while cycling 1098 kilometres through these states.
