“Need to focus on air defence systems; drones & aero space to protect India’s air domain”
On October 26, 2023, in New Delhi, Shri Rajnath Singh gave the opening remarks at the two-day Air Force Commanders’ Conference. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari informed the Raksha Mantri on the operational readiness of the Indian Air Force (IAF) during the session.
Shri Rajnath Singh underlined the necessity of improving operational readiness and the significance of collaborative planning and execution of operations by the three services in his speech to the Commanders. He asked the IAF commanders to study the quickly shifting geopolitical landscape on a global scale and evaluate it within the Indian context.
The Raksha Mantri made the point that new trends in air warfare have developed, and that it is important to evaluate and learn from them in order to improve military readiness. In order to safeguard India’s airspace, he urged the IAF to concentrate on bolstering air defence systems, using drones, and making advancements in the aerospace industry. The current state of global security presents new difficulties. We have to be prepared to handle them at all times,” he stated.
In recent Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and other flood-affected areas, Shri Rajnath Singh hailed the IAF for its outstanding performance. Additionally, he commended the IAF for organizing the Air Force Day Parade and Air Display at Prayagraj, which the public found to be quite enjoyable. Among those in attendance were Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt.
