Urges employees to ensure a cleaner workplace for enhanced productivity
On October 26, 2023, as part of the government’s ongoing effort to make Swachhata a daily habit, Shri Rajnath Singh conducted an inspection of the MoD Secretariat’s cleanliness in South Block, New Delhi. The Raksha Mantri spoke with the workers and urged everyone of them to personally provide a few hours of Shramdaan each week in order to keep the workplace as clean as possible. He emphasized that increased productivity is the result of a neat and organized workspace. He also expressed his gratitude to the Swachhata Veers, whose tireless efforts have played a crucial role in the MoD’s Swachhata Abhiyan’s effective execution.
The MoD and the concurrent pan-India Swachhata Abhiyan are in the fourth and penultimate week of Special Campaign 3.0. This campaign’s main focus has been on making profitable use of the resources at hand and making money from the disposal of scrap. It is important to note that the Ministry has made Rs 5.34 lakh in money from the sale of junk furniture and outdated and seized IT equipment, such as photocopier machines, in South Block. The sale of vehicles that are declared condemned has also brought in Rs 55 crore in revenue.
In keeping with the theme of cleanliness, during the current Special Campaign 3.0, an abandoned room was cleaned out, furnished, and repurposed into a “Ladies Room” where staff members could unwind whenever it was convenient for them. The chamber on the second level of the South Block was officially opened by the Raksha Mantri. The female staff members expressed their gratitude to him for this admirable intervention that should be imitated by others.
Shri Rajnath Singh also went to the bottom floor area where trash was being thrown, which was formerly a departmental canteen that had closed. During the ongoing Special Campaign 3.0, the trash was removed, and the area is now being renovated.
