On April 20, 2023, the 8th India-Thailand Defence Dialogue took place in Bangkok. Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Special Secretary at the Indian Ministry of Defence, and General Nuchit Sribunsong, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Thai Ministry of Defence, jointly presided over the meeting. Both parties acknowledged their satisfaction with the continued defence cooperation between the two nations during the meeting.
Review of the development of several bilateral defence cooperation efforts. The co-chairs came up with ways to improve already-existing collaborations, particularly in the fields of defence industry, marine security, and international cooperation. Thailand showed confidence in the Indian defence industry’s abilities. The two chairs also discussed ways to work together in new fields and concerns with global commons. The Special Secretary also met with Thailand General Sanitchanog Sangkachantra, Permanent Secretary for Defence at the Ministry of Defence, during the visit.
