The Republic Day parade on January 26, 2023, will feature 23 tableaus—17 from States/Union Territories and six from various Ministries/Departments—depicting the country’s rich cultural history, economic prosperity, and strong internal and foreign security.

During the parade, seventeen tableaux representing the states and union territories (States/UTs) of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadar Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala will be displayed, showcasing the geographical and rich cultural diversity of the country.

Six tableaux from Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Home Affairs (Central Armed Police Forces), Ministry of Home Affairs (Narcotics Control Bureau), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (Central Public Works Department), Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (Indian Council Agriculture Research) will also be on display, showcasing the works and achievements in the last few years.

States and UTs were divided into six zones for the Republic Day parade’s tableaux selection: the Northern Zone, Central Zone, Eastern Zone, Western Zone, Southern Zone, and North Eastern Zone. On the basis of the proportionate ratio of each zone, roughly 15 tableaux from States/UTs are typically chosen for the Republic Day parade.

An expert committee reviewed tableaux submissions from several States/UTs as part of the selection process, and members of the committee engaged in multiple rounds of discussions with representatives of the States about the tableaux’s theme, presentation, aesthetics, and technical components.
