From January 10–13, Admiral Fahad Abdullah S. Al-Ghofaily, Chief of Staff, Royal Saudi Naval Forces, is in India for a four-day official visit. The visit serves as evidence of the long-standing partnership between the Indian and Saudi navy.
Admiral Fahad Abdullah S Al-Ghofaily called on Adm R Hari Kumar, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy on 11 Jan 24 at New Delhi and conducted discussions on collaborative structures and ways to further expand Navy to Navy cooperation. At the South Block Lawns, a formal Guard of Honour was presented to him.
Through a number of programs, including training and other marine outlets, as well as operational exchanges like the bilateral naval exercise Al Mohed Al Hindi, the Indian Navy collaborates with the Royal Saudi Naval Force. Ships of the Indian Navy have been making frequent port visits to many Saudi Arabian ports. In a number of multilateral fora, including the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), MILAN, CMF (Combined Maritime Forces), and DCoC-JA (Djibouti Code of Conduct – Jeddah Amendment), the Indian Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Force have been collaborating to enhance maritime security in the area.
Admiral Fahad Abdullah S. Al-Ghofaily is visiting and will be meeting with the vice chief of army staff, the chief of air staff, the chief of defense staff, and the defense secretary.
Admiral Fahad Abdullah S. Al-Ghofaily would also visit Southern Naval Command in Kochi and IFC-IOR in Gurugram during this visit.
The goal of the Chief of Staff of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces’ current visit is to strengthen naval cooperation between the two fleets and has reignited their common commitment to tackling marine problems in the Indo-Pacific region.
