US President Joe Biden on Tuesday pledged that “there would be consequences” for Saudi Arabia after it partnered with Russia to announce a cut in oil production last week.

I am in the process, when the House and Senate gets back, theyre going to have to theres going to be some consequences for what theyve done with Russia, Biden said.

The decision by the Saudi-led OPEC+ oil cartel to cut production last week prompted anger at the White House, where officials said Biden was personally disappointed by what they called a shortsighted decision, CNN reported.

After Saudi Arabia announced a reduction in oil output last week in partnership with Russia, US President Joe Biden promised that Saudi Arabia will face “consequences” on Tuesday.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Biden expressed his opinion that the US’s relationship with Saudi Arabia needed to be reconsidered.

When the House and Senate reconvenes, they will have to face the repercussions of what they did with Russia, Biden said, adding that I am in the midst of doing so.

The Saudi-led OPEC+ oil cartel’s decision to reduce output last week sparked resentment at the White House, where insiders claimed Biden was personally upset by what they deemed a foolish choice, according to CNN.

In the weeks leading up to the November midterm elections, Saudi Arabia, where CNN reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was recently received, has the ability to drive up petrol prices.

Let’s be clear about why I went, stated Biden. I didn’t focus on the oil, but rather on making sure that we wouldn’t leave the Middle East, according to Biden.

Biden’s declaration, according to Reuters, came the day after influential Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, demanded that the US immediately halt all collaboration with Saudi Arabia, including military sales.
