Time to end Russian War says Zelenskyy at G20

Ukrainian civilians hailed the Russian military leaving Kherson on Friday, echoing the adage that a little help goes a long way for the poor.   President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian leaders welcomed the Kremlin’s withdrawal from the banks of the Dnipro River as the beginning of the “end of war.” Most international leaders demanded a ceasefire and denounced the Russian-led military incursion in the eastern European nation earlier today at the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, virtually addressed the G20 summit and declared that “now is the time” to put a stop to Russia’s “destructive war.” In fact, numerous leaders, including Indonesian President Joko Widodo, British Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and PM Rishi Sunak mentioned the Russia-Ukraine war in their opening remarks and called for a stop to it.

In his speech at the summit, Prime Minister Modi stated that it was time to develop a “collective resolve” to put a stop to the conflict in Ukraine. He advocated using diplomacy to find a solution.

“I’ve repeatedly said we have to find a way to return to the path of ceasefire and diplomacy in Ukraine. Over the past century, World War II wreaked havoc in the world. After that, leaders of that time made a serious effort to take the path of peace. Now it’s our turn,” PM Modi said.

Regarding the West’s limitations and restrictions on energy supplies brought on by the Russia-Ukraine war, PM Modi spoke of the war’s global effects. He stated “We should not encourage any kind of restrictions on the supply of energy. And ensure stability in the energy market”.

Ukrainian officials have been attempting to restore services and offer inhabitants the most basic facilities since Russia withdrew from Kherson.

Zelenskyy went to the war-torn city of Kherson on Monday. Residents of Kherson informed news organisations that although Russian soldiers may have damaged more of the city than the majority, they were unable to shatter their belief that brighter days were ahead.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has gathered evidence of at least 400 war crimes carried out by Kremlin-affiliated forces. These include the murder of innocent people, kidnappings, and extensive infrastructural damage in Kherson.

Russian military reportedly destroyed heating and electrical infrastructure before fleeing Kherson, blowing up a television broadcasting facility.

According to reports, Western officials want to exert pressure on Russia to extend a pact that permits the shipment of Ukrainian wheat across the Black Sea. The United Nations General Assembly conducted a special emergency session on Ukraine on Monday.  “Russia must be held accountable for its violations of international law in Ukraine,” the Ukrainian envoy to the UN noted.
