On March 12th, 24 at M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Limited in Kolkata, Cmde Atul Maini, President of SSB (Kolkata), launched the second 25T Bollard Pull Tug, Bahubali, and laid the keel for the fourth 25T BP Tug, Yuvan. This tug is a proud representative of the Indian government’s “Make in India” campaign.
In accordance with the Government of India’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” plan, a contract was signed with M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (M/s TRSL) for the building and delivery of six 25T BP tugs. The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) classification guidelines are being followed in the construction of these tugs. The presence of tugs will support IN’s operational responsibilities by helping naval vessels and submarines berthing and unberthing, turning, and navigating in restricted waters. Along with helping ships afloat with firefighting when they are anchored, the tugs will also be able to do limited search and rescue operations.
