On April 22, 2024, armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint research and training. Lt Gen Daljit Singh, Director of Armed Forces Medical Services, and Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covers research and innovation activities aimed at creating new medical equipment and addressing health problems unique to soldiers serving in various environments.
The strong biomedical research ecosystem at IIT Delhi makes it the perfect place to get the technical know-how needed for studies into the various medical issues that the armed forces confront, such as amputee rehabilitation. Joint PhD program development, faculty exchange, and collaborative academic activities will all fall under the purview of this Memorandum of Understanding.
DGAFMS Lt Gen Daljit Singh stated at this time that the AFMS is committed to provide soldiers the best medical treatment possible and that working with prestigious national institutions like IIT is a big step in that direction. This Memorandum of Understanding presents numerous opportunities for training and research that would benefit the country and the armed forces, said Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi.
