The fifth iteration of the biannual AUSINDEX maritime exercise between the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the Indian Navy was held in Sydney, Australia, from August 22 to August 25. In addition to HMAS Choules and HMAS Brisbane from the RAN, INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata took part in the exercise. The drill included fighter planes and maritime patrol aircraft in addition to ships and their integrated helicopters. AUSINDEX, which lasted four days, featured a number of challenging drills in each of the three maritime operations areas. The drill came to a successful conclusion by reinforcing the shared protocols and the close ties and interoperability between the Indian Navy and RAN.
