The Amarnath Yatra track would be restored by Border Road Organisation (BRO) by June 15, 2023, long before the Yatra begins on July 1, 2023. The scope of work includes removing snow, enlarging the track, restoring all footbridges, repairing handrails, building break walls, etc.
Previously, Pahalgam Development Authority and the Public Works Department of Jammu and Kashmir were responsible for maintaining the Yatra tracks from Baltal to the Holy Cave and Chandanwari to the Holy Cave, respectively. In September 2022, the tracks were given to BRO for upkeep and improvement.
