The Chain of Static Sensors (CSS), which consists of 46 radar sites, is used by the Indian Coast Guard to monitor and patrol the coastline in real time. After their installation in 2011, these radars have had no known negative effects on the environment.

Patrolling, surveillance, exercises, community contacts, social campaigns on marine pollution, and oil spill control are only a few of the measures the government has taken to improve coastal security and safeguard the fragile coastal habitat from further climatic degradation.

In a written response to Shri MVV Satyanarayana and Shrimati Chinta Anuradha in the Lok Sabha today, Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt provided the information.
