The third week of the Special Campaign 3.0 implementation phase (02–31 October 2023) and the associated Swachhata Abhiyan have begun at the Department of Defence. It may be recalled that the Department of Defence had designated a total of 3066 locations/sites across India where the Swachhata Abhiyan with people-centric engagement is to be carried out during the planning stage of the Special Campaign 3.0. The Controller General of Defence Accounts, the Border Roads Organization, the Directorate General of National Cadet Corps, the Indian Coast Guard, the Sainik Schools, the Canteen Stores Department, and the Cantonments are only a few of the entities that have locations in these areas.At the close of business on 18.10.23, 1832 such sites had already been covered.
28,859 of these files have already been reviewed as of October 18, 2023, and 16,485 of these files are being suggested for weeding out. At the close of business on October 18, 23, 92,850 square feet of space had been made available, and the disposal of other scrap and outdated items had brought in a total of Rs 55.43 crore.
Cantonment Board Dehradun has established “Polythene Kachra Bank” in the Dehradun Cantonment region as part of the best practices applied during the current Campaign for the disposal of polythene waste. The garbage made of polythene, such as chip wrappers, packaging bags, and sacks, is purchased from the public for Rs. 3 per kilogram. The collection centres for Polythene Kachra Banks have been installed at three sites in the Cantonment area.
The High Density Composite Polymer (HDCP) tiles, boards, etc. are made from the collected polythene trash. Every month, the Cantonment Board purchases between 70 and 100 tons of discarded polythene.
People can save their plastic garbage in a house corner and visit the closest “Polythene Kachra Bank” any day of the month to sell their plastic waste. In addition, the polythene waste can be provided to the person who picks up trash from your house.
