The Indian Ocean Region will host the third iteration of the international exercise La Perouse from March 13 to 14. Personnel, ships, and integrated helicopters from the Royal Australian Navy, French Navy, Indian Navy, Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, Royal Navy, and United States Navy will take part in this event.

The yearly activity The French Navy organises La Perouse, which aims to improve marine domain awareness and maritime coordination among the participating navies in the Indo-Pacific Region. The two-day exercise gives like-minded navies a chance to forge stronger connections in terms of planning, coordination, and information sharing for seamless maritime operations. The exercise will feature difficult and sophisticated naval operations, including as cross-deck landings, anti-air warfare, air defence drills, and tactical manoeuvres.

This version of the drill will feature participation from the fleet tanker INS Jyoti and the indigenously built guided missile frigate INS Sahyadri. The Indian Navy’s participation in the exercise demonstrates the allied navies’ high levels of cooperation, coordination, and interoperability as well as their dedication to a rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific area.
