New Delhi hosts the fourth Joint Defence Working Group (JDWG) meeting between India and Mozambique.

The India-Mozambique Joint Defence Working Group met for the fourth time on April 25, 2023, in New Delhi. Joint Secretary for Defence, Shri Amitabh Prasad, and Permanent Secretary for Mozambique’s Ministry of National Defence, Mr. Casimiro Augusto Mueio, jointly presided over the meeting.

In order to strengthen their defence engagements, the two sides spoke about a wide range of topics, including military training and courses, exercises, medicine, and capacity building. The Indian side addressed methods to strengthen the two countries’ bilateral military ties while highlighting the nation’s expanding defence industrial capabilities. Separate interactions took place between the Mozambican side and the defence industry representatives. Mozambique also expressed appreciation for India’s assistance in boosting the capability and mobility of its military to combat security threats, especially terrorism. The Indian side gave Mozambique assurances on New Delhi’s ongoing commitment to and support for robust bilateral defence relations.
