Ukraine’s nuclear vitality provider accused Russia on Saturday of “kidnapping” the head of Europe’s largest nuclear energy plant, a facility now occupied by Russian troops. Russian forces seized the director-general of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Energy Plant, Ihor Murashov, spherical 4 pm on Friday, Ukrainian state nuclear agency Energoatom acknowledged.Energoatom acknowledged Russian troops stopped Murashov’s vehicle, blindfolded him after which took him to an undisclosed location.
“His detention by (Russia) jeopardizes the safety of Ukraine and Europe’s largest nuclear power plant,” acknowledged Energoatom President Petro Kotin acknowledged.
Kotin demanded Russia immediately launch Murashov.
Russia did not immediately acknowledge seizing the plant director.
The Zaporizhzhia plant repeatedly has been caught inside the crossfire of the battle in Ukraine.
Ukrainian technicians continued working it after Russian troops seized the facility station. The plant’s ultimate reactor was shut down in September amid ongoing shelling near the potential.
The International Atomic Energy Agency, which has staff on the plant, did not immediately acknowledge Energoatom’s declare of Murashov’s seize by the Russians.
