Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Special Secretary, Ministry of Defence, will undertake an official visit to Bangkok between April 20 and 21, 2023, at the invitation of the Government of Thailand. On April 20, 2023, the Special Secretary will co-chair the 8th meeting of the India-Thailand Defence Dialogue with Thailand General Nuchit Sribunsong, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence of the Ministry of Defence.
The co-chairs will assess the two nations’ defence cooperation throughout the discussion and consider fresh ideas to fortify bilateral ties. The two parties will also discuss regional and international topics of mutual interest. The Special Secretary will also meet with Thailand General Sanitchanog Sangkachantra, Permanent Secretary for Defence of the Ministry of Defence, during her visit.
Defence is a major tenet of the strategic alliance between India and Thailand. Over time, the two nations’ bilateral defence engagements have grown to cover a variety of contacts, including military-to-military exchanges, high-level visits, capacity building and training programmes, and bilateral exercises.
