Cmde G Ravi, Warship Production Superintendent (Visakhapatnam), launched the Second Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge, Yard 76 (LSAM 8) on August 18, 2013 in Guttenadeevi, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh (launch location of M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd). This Barge is a proud representative of the Ministry of Defence’s “Make in India” project, having all major and auxiliary equipment/systems made by domestic producers.
In accordance with the government of India’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” programs, a contract was reached with M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd, Visakhapatnam, for the building of eight MCA Barges. A 30-year service life is built into the construction of this barge. By easing the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of items and munitions to IN Ships both beside jetties and at outer harbours, the availability of MCA Barges will spur IN’s operational responsibilities.
