NCRTC NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION TRANSPORT Corporation first train..

‘NaMo Bharat’ will be the name of the trains of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated.

One day after its inauguration, on October 21, the 17-kilometer priority segment of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is scheduled to open for traffic.

The first semi-high-speed regional rail service project in India, being carried out by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), dubbed RRTS trains ‘RAPIDX’ in April.

The Union minister for housing and urban affairs declared that RRTS trains will be referred to as “Namo Bharat” in a post on X that was posted in Hindu.

The RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system. With a design speed of 180 kmph, it is a regional development initiative, which is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting every 15 minutes, going up to a frequency of every five minutes when required. Developed at a cost of more than ₹30,000 crore, the train will allow a commuter to travel between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour.

RRTS trains offer various passenger-centric amenities such as overhead luggage racks, Wi-Fi, and mobile and laptop charging outlets at every seat.

The RRTS corridor, once fully operational, will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut to around 55 minutes from the current three to four hours by road.

A dedicated ‘Lost and Found’ center is established at the Ghaziabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station to expedite the retrieval of misplaced belongings.

Passengers who misplace their belongings on the station premises or on RAPIDX trains can seek assistance from station staff. Inquiries and support related to lost and found items can be obtained by calling the RAPIDX Customer Service Centre.

How it is different from Delhi metro..

Delhi Metro vs NaMo Bharat: Seating Arrangement..

The NaMo trains are equipped with facilities like air conditioning, heating, ventilation, luggage racks, dynamic route charts, 2×2 transverse seats, and extensive standing space. Delhi Metro has a longitudinal seating arrangement that provides more space for standing passengers in every coach.

Delhi Metro vs NaMo Bharat: Network..

The RRTS network differs from metro services in that it accommodates passengers who want to travel at higher speeds and comparatively longer distances with fewer stops. Along a designated route, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which constructed the project, will offer dependable, high-frequency, point-to-point regional transport at a fast pace, setting it apart from the traditional railway system.

As a result, eight RRTS corridors are to be created in the National Capital Region (NCR). Of these, three corridors—the Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut Corridor, the Delhi – Gurugram – SNB – Alwar Corridor, and the Delhi – Panipat Corridor—have been given priority for implementation in Phase I.

Conclusion…

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is a flagship project with an estimated cost exceeding Rs 30,000 crore. It will seamlessly connect Delhi to Meerut in under an hour, passing through key urban centres such as Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar. This transformative initiative is set to revolutionise intercity travel within the region.

The complete 82.15 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is on track to be operational by June 2025, as previously stated by the NCRTC.
