Putin praises India and its potential for development says : ‘A talented, driven people’

According to Vladimir Putin, Indians are “talented” and “driven” people. Russian President Vladimir Putin praised India once more, calling Indians “talented” and “driven” with great potential to achieve outstanding development results.

On the occasion of Russian Unity Day on November 4, Putin expressed optimism about the billion-person population of Moscow’s long-time ally, India.

“Consider India: a talented, driven people with a strong desire for internal development. India will undoubtedly achieve outstanding results in terms of development. There are no reservations. And nearly one and a half billion people. That’s a lot of potential “he said.

Putin praised India’s political leadership last week, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his independent foreign policy. At the Valdai Club’s plenary session, he stated that New Delhi’s role in global affairs will grow in the coming years and that the “future belongs to India.”

Putin’s comments came ahead of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow next week, in the midst of the Ukrainian conflict. Jaishankar will visit Russia for two days, November 7-8, to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and review bilateral relations.

The Indian foreign minister will also meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov to discuss bilateral economic cooperation.

Russia has been a reliable partner for India for many years, and the country is an important pillar of New Delhi’s foreign policy.

India, for its part, has yet to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and has abstained on resolutions dealing with Moscow’s actions in Ukraine. It has remained steadfast in its belief that the conflict must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.

Despite opposition from several Western powers, New Delhi has increased its imports of discounted crude oil and coal from Russia.
