On March 26th, the INS Sumedha, a ship currently stationed in the Mediterranean, arrived in Algiers, Algeria for an operational turnaround. Officers from the Algerian Navy and representatives from the Indian Embassy in Algeria welcomed the ship in Port Algiers.The purpose of the visit is to improve marine cooperation and interoperability between the two fleets as well as bilateral connections.
Additionally, it exemplifies the Indian Navy’s outreach to maritime allies.
Via cross-deck visits, official meetings, sports, and cultural outings, the two navies will exchange best practises and experiences throughout the visit.
INS Sumedha is an indigenously manufactured stealth offshore patrol vessel that was built at Goa Shipyard Ltd. It is equipped with a cutting-edge armament and sensor kit. She frequently participates in fleet support tasks such escort, SAR, HADR, and anti-piracy patrol. She is capable of transporting an advanced light combat helicopter.
