AT M/S SECON ENGINEERING PROJECTS PVT LTD, VISAKHAPATNAM
On September 22, 2013, Cmde G Ravi, Warship Production Superintendent (Visakhapatnam), launched the Third Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge, Yard 77 (LSAM 9) in Guttenadeevi, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh (launch location of M/s SECON). This Barge is a proud representative of the Ministry of Defence’s “Make in India” programs, having all major and auxiliary equipment/systems made by domestic producers.
In accordance with the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” objectives of the Government of India, a contract was reached with M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd, Visakhapatnam, an MSME, for the construction and delivery of 08 x Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barges. First MCA Barge was already delivered by the MSME shipyard on July 18th, and Second Barge was launched on August 18th. With a 30-year service life, this barge is being constructed in accordance with the classification standards of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). By easing the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of items and munitions to IN Ships both beside jetties and at outer harbours, the availability of MCA Barges will spur IN’s operational responsibilities.
