About

It is a tri-service Command. Consist of personnel from all 3 special warfare branches of the army, navy, airforce.

It functions under the integrated defence staff it was formed in sep 2018 & is operationally active since Nov 2019.

It consist of:

Army’s- special forces

navy’s- Marcos

airforce’s- garuds

Role-

To carry out special operations within the country & outside India, Targeting high value installations & degrading the war fighting Capabilities of hostile nations.

1st commander was Maj gen AK dhinga of 1 Para sf.

Components

Headquarter- not known maybe in agra or bengaluru.

Para sf forms a major portion followed by marcos&garud the division also has operational control off transport aircraft, Specialised weapon systems & surveillance equipments.

Exercise and development

1st exercise, named smelling field on 28 sep 2019 in kutch.

2nd ‘DANX 2019’ from 14 to 18 oct 2019 in Andaman & Nicobar

on 24th Nov 2019 Afsod was operationally deployed for the 1st time is Jammu & Kashmir. to conduct counter-insurgency operations.
